While the warm winds whip at the Havana rooftops, Conde meets Karina, a beautiful young woman to whom he feels deeply attracted. At the same time, Conde is assigned a case involving the murder and suspected rape of Lissette Núñez, a young Communist militant and a teacher at the same pre-college institute where Conde studied. One piece of information draws Conde’s attention more than anything else: evidence that points to drugs not usually seen on the streets of Havana having been consumed in Lissett’es apartment on the nigh of her murder.
